2018 Legacy Pinot Noir 12 Bottle Case
A mild, dry season at 890m above sea level produced exceptional Pinot Noir fruit off the vineyard. Handpicked grapes were crushed to custom French oak Puncheons with large openings in the heads for earlier integration of oak characters and unique fermentation dynamics. Then a whole bunch, long, warm ferment emphasises the delicate cherry and cherry stone notes along with fine, earthy tannins. Hand plunged and aged for fifteen months in French Oak this is a handcrafted and stand-out Pinot Noir with fruit notes in balance with delicious savoury, integrated toasted oak. Can be cellared or enjoyed now.

Handpicked at dawn in March 2018 from Nashdale Lane Wines vineyard at 890 m above sea level in fine silt and rich basalt soil. Three clones of Pinot Noir (Abel, 777 and MV6) were crushed into two custom French oak Puncheons with large openings in the heads for earlier integration of oak characters and unique fermentation dynamics. Whole berries in the ferment lend to the wines’ delicate cherry and cherry stone profile while the additional heat of ferment brings savoury characters and richer tannic structure. The barrels were gently hand plunged. After pressing the wine was returned for maturation for fifteen months in the same barrels.

A refined, complex Pinot Noir this wine will pair beautifully with meats such as lamb and pork but are equally well with richer meats such as duck and oily fish like grilled crispy skinned salmon.
