2022 Colour Series Tempranillo
Low in acid and lighter in body, the 2022 Colour Series Tempranillo is a versatile red wine. On the nose it has a unique combination of sour cherries, ripe plum, tobacco and clove. On the palate those flavours combine with grippy tannins which give the wine its unique earthy, savoury feel. The thick skin of Tempranillo grape give the varietal the ability to be done as in a light, or heavier style – retaining a lovely tannic, dry mouthfeel.

Hand-picked in the early hours of the morning for ultimate fruit quality whole bunches were gently destemmed and placed into several small fermenters. Hand-plunged 2-3 times per day with a proportion of whole bunch press the wine was fermented on skins for a little over two weeks to add bright fruit character. Racked off lees before undertaking malolactic fermentation and then aged in 50% new French Oak puncheons for almost 10 months.

A well balanced, light bodied Tempranillo, can enhance a wide range of dishes. Tempranillo's ability to cut through and compliment salty and oily foods makes it a popular pairing option, and this lighter and fresher example, pairs well with lamb, roast chicken, tomato based seafood dishes. Vegetarian recipes with beans, mushrooms and root vegetables, will also suit this style of wine well.
