2023 Colour Series Tempranillo
Low in acid and lighter in body, the 2023 Colour Series Tempranillo is a versatile red wine. On the nose it has a unique combination of sour cherries, ripe plum, tobacco and clove. On the palate those flavours combine with grippy tannins which give the wine its unique earthy, savoury feel. The thick skin of Tempranillo grape give the varietal the ability to be done as in a light, or heavier style – retaining a lovely tannic, dry mouthfeel.

Hand-picked in the early hours of the morning for ultimate fruit quality whole bunches were gently destemmed and placed into several small fermenters. Hand-plunged 2-3 times per day with a proportion of whole bunch press the wine was fermented on skins for a little over two weeks to add bright fruit character. Racked off lees before undertaking malolactic fermentation and then aged in 30% new French Oak puncheons for almost 12 months.
Pictured : Tempranillo bunches are big with thick rich skins, when fermented and aged in oak they deliver a delicious medium bodied food friendly wine.
Tempranillo sits in that sweet spot where it’s structured enough for steak but still mellow enough for roast veggies or tapas. It doesn’t fight for attention — it just makes everything taste a bit more complete.
